Connecting to Our Community
Connecting with our Community means building natural relational bridges into our community and loving our neighbors and reaching out to them with the good news about Jesus Christ.
God’s grace is the relational experience of His love for us. The good news that people can be forgiven and brought into a meaningful relationship with God through Jesus Christ, is something we have been entrusted with and are privileged to share with others. [1 Thess 2:4; 1 Tim 1:11]
For this reason we reach outside the church walls and enter into meaningful connection with others in our own community. God wants people everywhere to experience His grace [2 Peter 3:9; John 3:16] in salvation and He has handed this ministry of reconciliation to us [2 Cor 5:14-21]. God’s grace is expansive and designed to flow into our lives and through us to others. We want those who have never experienced a relationship with God through Jesus to come to accept that wonderful gift of grace.
Connecting to the community means we are active ambassadors for Jesus Christ and seeking to live out and share the grace of God in the places where we live, work, play, shop, and hang out. Our lives are to be a shining example of God’s grace to those who have yet to experience it in their own lives. [Mt 5:13-16; 1 Pet 2:11-12; Phil 2:14-15…]. Our goal is that they would come to the place of connecting with God.
Connecting to the Community for Grace means that we are serious about the Great Commission of Jesus Christ to “go and make disciples of all nations.” [Mt. 28:18-20] We are committed to fulfilling this mission of Jesus and are intentional both about actively sharing Christ in our own city as well as partnering outside of our city and across the world to share the good news of God’s grace. [Acts 1:8]. We believe that we are responsible to be engaged in mission in Airdrie as well as being involved in mission across the world. For this reason we support several missionaries in countries where there is a need for increased gospel witness and regularly send individuals and teams on mission trips to partner with ministries across the world. In this way connecting with the community can be seen as both a local and a global initiative. Our goal in sharing the good news of Jesus is that they too may connect with God.
Above and beyond building relationships in the community in our neighbourhoods, workplaces and community groups, Grace Airdrie specifically connects to our community through:
and other special events.
