Connecting to One Another
Connecting with One Another means active engagement in relational connection with other believers within the body for encouragement, accountability, spiritual growth, care and ministry – all flowing out of the love that comes from God.
Grace is also something that flows out of our lives and impacts our relationships with others. We believe that people who have experienced God’s grace in salvation are better equipped for relationships with other people. God’s design for His family is that we live in interdependent relationships with one another within His body, the church. Within the church we are a family; God’s children living together in mutual connection with one another.
Connecting with One Another is critical to being a healthy church. At Grace every person is valuable, loved, and accepted as part of God’s family. Fellowship and true unity is an ideal that is often difficult to achieve in a sinful, depraved world. However, God’s grace enables us to pursue and grow towards this ideal. The New Testament clearly directs the followers of Jesus Christ in the area of connecting with several “one another” commands: “love one another” [Jn 13:34 and 12+ more times], “be devoted to one another…honor one another above yourselves” [Rom 12:10] “serve one another in love” [Gal 5:13], “bearing with one another in love” [Eph 4:2] ,“forgiving one another” [Eph 4:32], “encourage one another” [Heb 10:25] “live in harmony with one another” [1 Pet 3:8], “consider one another better than yourselves [Phil 2:2], “carry one another’s burdens” [Gal 6:2], and the list goes on showing that this is a significant aspect of connecting with one another.
As we actively obey and live out these commands we will discover that we are ‘connecting with one another’ within the church family. In this way we develop healthy, strong, and vibrant relationships. In turn, this impacts our marriages, families, friendships, life groups and ministry teams. Connecting with one another is a significant component of the life and mission of Grace Baptist Church.
